A child document like this will normally be accessed via a link from some kind of main menu in the parent document. This procedure will keep the pages as short as possible and will in most cases result in a tree-like structure of the web site.
By the way: This is what my work place used to look like. Spending up to 16 hrs per day in this tiny space asked a lot of patience from everybody involved. One of the more comfortable things about it was that you didn't have to use all of that equipment shown at the same time...
